Chapter 6 - A New Dawn at the HarborThree months later.

The autumn breeze sweeping off New York Harbor carried the crisp, clean scent of salt and renewal. The sun hung low in the sky, casting a brilliant golden hue across the wraparound terrace of the newly renovated penthouse overlooking the water.
Inside the sprawling living room, soft jazz played quietly from the speakers.
Elena stood by the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, cradling their three-month-old son, Leo, who was sleeping peacefully against her shoulder, wrapped in a soft white cashmere blanket. Her cheeks were rosy, her eyes bright and filled with a profound, untethered peace.
Footsteps echoed softly across the hardwood floor. Strong arms wrapped around her waist from behind, and a warm chin rested gently on her shoulder.
“You’re thinking about them, aren’t you?” Daniel asked softly, kissing the side of her neck.
Elena leaned back against his chest, sighing contentedly. “A little. I heard from Marcus yesterday. They’re settled in Switzerland. The estate there is well-maintained, and they have everything they need physically. But they’re entirely isolated.”
“They chose their path,” Daniel said firmly, his hands tightening protectively around her. “They built their lives on control and cruelty. We built ours on loyalty, protection, and unconditional love.”
Elena turned in his arms, looking up into his eyes with a radiant smile. She reached up, gently tracing the sharp line of his jaw.
“Do you know what today is, Daniel?”
“Of course I do,” he smiled, pressing his lips softly to hers. “Three months since our son was born, and the exact day we closed the chapter on the past forever.”

She smiled, resting her head against his chest, listening to the steady, strong beat of his heart—a heart that belonged entirely to her and their son.
Out on the harbor, massive container ships glided smoothly across the water, carrying cargo across oceans under a clear, endless sky. The empire was secure, the shadows were gone, and for the first time in their lives, the future stretched out before them—bright, beautiful, and entirely their own.
