Chapter 3 - The Reconstruction

The next morning, the world changed.
I woke up to a panoramic view of the city skyline, the sun reflecting off the glass towers like gold leaf. Waiting for me in the dressing room were three personal stylists, sent by my grandfather, carrying racks of tailored suits, silk blouses, and coats made from the finest wool. I chose a structured, camel-colored trench coat, a sharp cream silk blouse, and elegant leather loafers that comfortably fit over my bandaged feet.
When I entered the dining room, Alexander was already reviewing the morning papers. He didn't say a word; he simply handed me the financial section of the city daily.
The headline was massive: Vance Logistics Facing Sudden Liquidation as Primary Creditor Forecloses.
"Victor’s entire business relies on a revolving credit line provided by a boutique commercial bank called Horizon Capital," Alexander explained, taking a sip of his coffee. "He doesn't know that Horizon Capital is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vale Holdings. I bought his debt at 8:00 AM this morning. By 8:30 AM, my legal team issued a formal demand for immediate repayment of his twelve-million-dollar operational loan."
"Can he pay it?" I asked, sitting down.
"He couldn't pay twelve thousand dollars without borrowing from his employees' insurance premiums," Alexander said smoothly. "He is currently at his corporate headquarters, surrounded by my forensic auditors. They are systematically seizing his servers, his bank accounts, and his client manifests to pay off the debt."
"I want to see him," I said, my voice quiet but completely firm.
Alexander looked up, his emerald eyes studying my face for a long moment. He didn't see a broken girl anymore. He saw the lineage. He saw the steel.
"Marcus," Alexander called out.

The massive security chief appeared instantly. "Yes, Mr. Vale?"
"Prepare the convoy. My granddaughter has an appointment at Vance Logistics."
