Chapter 4 - The InfiltrationTo find the truth, they had to return to the source. Sophie and Dominic infiltrated the hospital foundation that had managed the 'mortuary services' four years ago. It was a sprawling, high-security facility that acted as a front for human trafficking and illicit research.

The danger was absolute. They had to go in as staff, using Sophie’s stolen credentials. She felt the old nausea return—the smell of antiseptic—but this time, it was replaced by a cold, hard rage.
"Stay close," Dominic warned, his hand never leaving the small of her back.
They navigated the labyrinthine basement levels, finding a restricted wing that didn't appear on any maps. It was here that they found the archives. Thousands of files. Not just of deaths, but of 'reassignments.'

Sophie found a folder labeled L. Moretti. Inside were photos of her son, growing up, living in a facility, being studied for his heart condition. He hadn't died. He had been taken.
"Dominic," she whispered, pointing to the documents. "He didn't die. They’ve been keeping them. The baby you found... he’s my son, too."
