Chapter 4 - The Shadow of Treason"Aleandro, calm down!" Victor stammered, his eyes wide as he struggled against Aleandro’s iron grip. "I am just delivering the message! Domenico’s men intercepted her brother on campus an hour ago! They are holding him at the abandoned glass factory on the docks!"

Aleandro let go of Victor, stepping back as his mind raced through tactical options.

Emma rushed over, grabbing Aleandro’s arm, her tears falling fast and heavy. "Please! Please, Mr. Romano! My brother has nothing to do with this! He's just nineteen! He wants to be a doctor! Please save him!"

Aleandro looked down at her hands clutching his sleeve. Her touch burned through his clothes, firing every protective instinct within his soul.

He cupped her face gently in his large, warm hands, wiping her tears with his thumbs. "Look at me, Emma," he commanded softly.

Emma looked up, her green eyes wide and desperate.

"I give you my solemn word as a Romano," Aleandro swore, his voice steady as iron. "I will bring your brother back alive and unharmed. Even if I have to burn this entire city to the ground to do it."

"I'm coming with you," Emma insisted stubbornly.

"No—"

"I am coming!" she screamed, her spirit blazing through her terror. "He is my brother! I won't sit in this gilded cage waiting for news while my family is tortured!"

Aleandro stared at her for a long second, seeing the fierce, unyielding devotion that mirrored his own love for his family. He realized then that Emma Carter was not just good; she was a force of nature.

"Victor," Aleandro ordered coldly. "Prepare the strike team. Twenty men. Full tactical gear. We leave in ten minutes."

Victor bowed, though as he turned his back, a subtle, dark smirk touched his lips.

Ten minutes later, a convoy of four heavy tactical SUVs tore down the winding coastal highway toward the industrial shipping docks. Rain had begun to fall again, heavy and relentless, blurring the windshields as lightning split the dark night sky.

In the back of the armored command vehicle, Aleandro checked his weapon, sliding a fresh magazine into his custom tactical pistol. Beside him, Emma sat wearing a Kevlar vest over her clothes, her hands clenched tightly in her lap.

Rosa’s words echoed in Aleandro’s mind: She has an unbreakable spine.

"Emma," Aleandro spoke over the sound of the rain. "When we arrive, you will stay inside this vehicle with two guards. No matter what you hear, no matter what happens, you do not step outside until I return."

"Promise me you won't kill unless you have to," Emma whispered, looking at him with genuine concern. "I don't want more blood on my family's name."

Aleandro looked at her, stunned by her compassion even in the middle of a war. "I will do what is necessary to keep your brother safe. That is all I can promise."

The convoy pulled into the desolate courtyard of the massive, abandoned glass factory. Giant rusted iron structures loomed like skeleton bones in the dark, surrounded by shattered glass and overgrown weeds.

"Sensors show activity on the third floor, Boss," the lead tactical officer reported. "Thermal imaging confirms six hostiles and one hostage."

"Move in," Aleandro commanded.

He turned to Emma, pressing a small, encrypted radio into her hand. "Keep this. If anything goes wrong, press the red button. It will signal my personal guard to evacuate you immediately."

Emma looked into his eyes, her heart aching with a sudden, overwhelming fear of losing him. "Aleandro... please be careful."

It was the first time she had spoken his first name without hostility.

A rare, breathtaking smile touched Aleandro’s lips. "For you, Emma... always."

He stepped out into the pouring rain, racking the slide of his pistol, and disappeared into the shadows of the factory with his strike team.

Inside the dark vehicle, Emma watched the glowing red tactical lights on her radio screen. Minutes felt like hours. The silence inside the car was deafening, broken only by the rhythmic beat of rain against the armored roof.

Suddenly, her radio crackled to life.

"Aleandro! It's a trap!" a guard’s voice screamed over static, followed immediately by the deafening roar of automatic gunfire and explosions echoing from inside the factory. "They knew our entry point! Victor tipped them off! I repeat, Victor Bellini is the traitor—"

The radio transmission cut off with a sickening blast.

Emma’s blood turned to ice. "Victor..." she gasped.

Before she could process the horrific revelation, the doors of her SUV were violently ripped open from the outside.

Her two guards were pulled out into the rain and shot before they could raise their weapons. Standing in the open doorway, holding an umbrella with a cold, triumphant smile on his face, was Victor Bellini.

"Get out of the car, Miss Carter," Victor ordered smoothly, aiming a silenced pistol at her heart. "Domenico has been waiting for you."
