Part 2: The Trap is Set

The next morning, the sun rose over Dallas with an deceptive, golden warmth. Inside the luxury penthouse suite at the Ritz-Carlton, Carmen Robles poured herself a glass of champagne, her fingers glittering with heavy diamond rings. Javier sat across from her on a velvet sofa, nursing a glass of scotch. His tuxedo jacket was thrown carelessly over a chair. He looked slightly anxious, but a smug smile played on his lips.
"Are you sure she won't go to the police, Mother?" Javier asked, adjusting his gold watch. "If this leaks, my partnership at the firm is dead. A domestic violence allegation will ruin everything I've built."
Carmen laughed, a cold, sharp sound that echoed off the marble walls. "She is a fragile little girl, Javier. Her mother is a weak, anxious woman who raised her to be polite. Sofia was terrified. By now, she’s hiding in some corner, too ashamed and too frightened to breathe a word. And besides, we have her signature on the transfer documents. By noon today, the Uptown condo will be legally collateralized. Our debts are wiped, and you will be the wealthiest junior partner in Dallas."
The doorbell to the penthouse rang. Javier frowned, checking his phone. "Is that the courier with the notarized copies?"
"Go open it, darling. Let's finalize our new empire," Carmen beamed.
Javier opened the heavy mahogany door, expecting a delivery messenger. Instead, he was met by three men in dark gray suits, accompanied by two federal marshals. Before Javier could utter a word, a tall, imposing man with graying hair at his temples stepped into the room. It was Marcus, Alexander’s chief legal counsel and head of operations.
"Javier Robles?" Marcus asked, his tone completely devoid of emotion.
"Who the hell are you? This is a private honeymoon suite. Get out before I have you arrested for trespassing," Javier snapped, attempting to use his legal authority to intimidate them.
Marcus didn't blink. He signaled to the federal marshals, who stepped forward, presenting a stack of legally stamped documents. "Mr. Robles, we are here to serve a federal injunction. As of 6:00 AM today, a temporary restraining order and an emergency asset freeze have been placed on all accounts associated with Robles Holdings, your personal accounts, and the accounts of Carmen Robles."
Carmen stood up so fast her champagne glass shattered against the glass coffee table. "What is the meaning of this?! You can't freeze my accounts! Do you know who I am? Who authorized this garbage?!"
"Alexander Vance authorized it," Marcus replied smoothly, stepping aside as two tech specialists entered the room and immediately began confiscating Javier's laptop and personal phone. "Furthermore, a criminal complaint for aggravated assault, extortion, extortion under duress, and kidnapping has been filed in the state of Texas. The Uptown Dallas condo deed transfer you attempted to lodge electronically at 8:01 AM has been flagged by the Texas Rangers as evidence in an ongoing human trafficking and extortion investigation."
Javier’s face drained of all color. "Human trafficking? That’s absurd! She’s my wife!"
"As of three hours ago, an annulment petition on the grounds of fraud and physical violence has been filed," Marcus said, leaning in slightly, his eyes boring into Javier's soul. "You aren't a husband, Mr. Robles. You are a defendant. And your mother is looking at a minimum of twenty years in a maximum-security state penitentiary."
Carmen rushed forward, her expensive perfume suddenly smelling like desperation. "This is a lie! Sofia fell! She tripped on her dress in the hotel lobby! There are no witnesses!"

"Actually, Mrs. Robles, there are," Marcus smiled coldly. "You forgot that luxury hotels have high-definition corridor cameras. We have footage of the six women you brought into the suite. We also have audio recordings from the smart-hub device inside the room, which recorded every single one of the forty blows you struck, along with your son's instructions to avoid her face."
The room fell into a suffocating, dead silence. The house of cards hadn't just fallen; it had been blown to pieces.
