CHAPTER 3 — THE FIRST ARREST
By sunrise, everything had changed.
Sofia lay asleep in her hospital bed, exhausted and covered in bruises. Alexander stood silently by the window, his face colder than I had ever seen.
When Detective Rachel Monroe arrived, she brought hotel security footage.
The video showed Sofia and Javier entering their honeymoon suite.
Twenty minutes later, Javier left.
A few minutes after that, Carmen arrived with six women.
They entered the suite.
The door closed.
Nearly an hour passed.
When the women finally came out, they were laughing.
Then Javier calmly walked back inside.
The footage confirmed everything.
He had known what was happening.
He had done nothing to stop it.
Alexander stared at the screen.
"He's finished," he said quietly.
That afternoon, police arrived at the Robles mansion.
Carmen was sitting in her sunroom drinking tea when officers entered.
"You are under arrest," Detective Monroe said.
Carmen laughed.
"This is ridiculous."
But when the handcuffs appeared, her confidence vanished.
For the first time, she looked afraid.
Across town, Javier was at work when his assistant rushed into his office.
"Your mother has been arrested."
His face turned pale.
Moments later, two detectives walked through his office door.
Everything he had built was beginning to collapse.
Back at the hospital, Sofia finally woke up.
"Dad?" she whispered.
Alexander immediately took her hand.
"What happens now?" she asked.
He looked at her bruised face and answered calmly.
"Now they face consequences."
For the first time since her wedding night, Sofia felt something she thought she had lost forever.
