CHAPTER 4 — THE FALL OF THE ROBLES FAMILY

Three days after Carmen’s arrest, the story was everywhere.

News stations replayed the hotel footage.

Social media exploded with outrage.

People who had once admired the Robles family now questioned everything about them.

And the worst part for Carmen?

More victims began speaking up.

Two former daughters-in-law came forward with stories of intimidation, threats, and abuse. For years they had been too afraid to report it.

Now they weren't.

The case against Carmen grew stronger every day.

Meanwhile, Javier tried desperately to save himself.

He called Sofia dozens of times.

She never answered.

He sent flowers.

She returned them.

He sent long messages claiming he loved her and never wanted any of this to happen.

But one message changed everything.

Detectives recovered a text Javier had sent to his mother just before the attack:

"Get the condo signed over tonight. Don't leave without it."

When Sofia read it, she cried.

Not because she still loved him.

Because she finally understood the truth.

The marriage had never been about love.

It had been about the condo.

A month later, the trial began.

The evidence was overwhelming.

The medical reports.

The security footage.

The witness statements.

The threatening messages.

Even several hotel employees testified.

After only a few hours of deliberation, the verdict arrived.

Guilty.

Carmen lowered her head as the judge announced her sentence.

For the first time in her life, she could not control the outcome.

Javier lost his law license shortly afterward for his role in the scheme.

The Robles family's reputation collapsed overnight.

Six months later, Sofia stood on the balcony of her condo overlooking downtown Dallas.

The bruises were gone.

The fear was fading.

And the divorce papers had finally been signed.

Behind her, I watched as Alexander handed her a small box.

"What is it?" she asked.

He smiled.

"Open it."

Inside was a key.

Sofia looked confused.

"A key to what?"

Alexander laughed softly.

"Your new office."

Her eyes widened.

"Office?"

"You always wanted to start your own design business," he said. "Consider this my investment."

Tears filled her eyes.

This time, they were happy tears.

She hugged him tightly.

Then she hugged me.

For the first time in a long time, our family felt whole again.

Not because everything had been repaired.

But because we had survived.

As the sun set over the city, Sofia smiled.

The wedding had ended in betrayal.

But her story had not ended there.

It ended with freedom.

A loving family beside her.

May you like

And a future that finally belonged to her.

THE END.
