Chapter 6 - A New DawnSix months later, the headlines in the business magazines looked very different.

Instead of praising me as a solitary, self-made titan who sacrificed everything for a bottom line, the articles talked about a tech founder who had successfully restructured his company to prioritize employee well-being, family balance, and community restoration programs.

Sunridge Logic was thriving, but more importantly, my home was alive.

There were no more locked doors, no more hidden agendas, and no more sleepless nights wondering if the person sleeping next to you was wearing a mask.

On a crisp Saturday morning in October, sunlight poured through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the living room. The smell of sweet batter and fresh fruit filled the air.

"Flip it, Dad! Flip it!" Owen chanted, jumping up and down beside the kitchen island.

I held the spatula with a theatrical flourish, expertly flipping a golden-brown pancake high into the air. It landed squarely back in the pan, sending Lucas and Owen into a fit of giggles.

Claire stood beside me, laughing as she wiped a smudge of flour from my cheek.

"Show-off," she teased, shaking her head.

"Only the best for my audience," I grinned, pulling her close against my side.

Later that afternoon, we walked out to the front gates where Cinnamon the cat—who had officially moved in and taken over the entire master bedroom—was sunning herself on the stone pillar.

The past felt like a lifetime away. The six men who had lost everything to a ghost had their names and fortunes restored through our legal foundation. Elena was painting again, her gallery opening scheduled for the following month. And my boys were growing up surrounded by laughter, truth, and love.

I looked down at Claire, her hand resting comfortably in mine, her fingers laced through mine without a single shadow of doubt.

The wedding that never happened had been the best thing that ever went wrong. Because it wasn't the end of my life—it was the moment I finally woke up and found my real home.
