Chapter 6 - A Covenant Written in Gold

Six months later.
The spring sun beat down warmly over the pristine blue waters of Lake Michigan. The cold, suffocating winter had melted away, taking with it the lies and treachery of the Voss empire.
Garrick Voss and Arthur Hale were serving thirty-year sentences in a federal penitentiary for arson, forgery, and racketeering. Meredith’s fraudulent marriage to Preston had been completely annulled, and she had moved to New York to open her own interior design firm—finally free to live her own life away from her father's control.
On the grand stone terrace of the Vance estate, a private celebration was underway. Fresh white roses filled the gardens, and the soft melody of a cello drifted through the spring air.
Elena stood by the stone balustrade, wearing a breathtaking ivory silk gown that caught the warm sunlight. She looked out over the lake, a genuine, beautiful smile resting on her lips—not the fake, polite smile she had worn at her sister's wedding, but a smile born of true freedom and profound happiness.
A pair of strong, familiar arms wrapped gently around her waist from behind. Dante pulled her back against his broad chest, burying his face in the crook of her neck, inhaling the sweet scent of her perfume.
"What are you thinking about, my queen?" Dante murmured softly, his voice vibrating warmly against her skin.
Elena turned in his arms, wrapping her hands around his neck, looking into his storm-gray eyes—eyes that were no longer cold, but filled with an intense, unconditional love.
"I was thinking about the night we met," Elena confessed softly, her thumb gently tracing the faint scar on his temple. "When you walked into that ballroom and declared that I was yours."
Dante smiled—a rare, magnificent expression that made her heart leap in her chest. He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a small, velvet ring box.
He opened it to reveal a magnificent oval-cut emerald ring, surrounded by brilliant diamonds—representing her hazel eyes and the strength she possessed.
"Six months ago, I took you from that hotel because I needed your mind to win a war," Dante said, his voice raw with deep emotion as he took her delicate hand in his. "But every day since, you have conquered my heart. I don't want you as a collateral pledge, Elena. I want you as my wife, my equal, and the true ruler of my life."
He looked deeply into her eyes. "Will you marry me, Elena?"
Tears of pure joy welled in Elena’s eyes as she looked at the man who had seen her true value when everyone else ignored her—the man who had protected her, empowered her, and loved her without reserve.
"Yes, Dante," Elena whispered, her voice filled with absolute certainty. "A thousand times, yes."

Dante slipped the emerald ring onto her finger, pulling her into his arms and kissing her deeply—a slow, breathtaking kiss under the golden spring sky that sealed their promise forever.
There, on the shores of Lake Michigan, the former invisible daughter and the mafia king stepped into an endless future together, bound not by force or fear, but by an unshakeable, triumphant love.
