Chapter 5 - The Fall of the House of ValentiThe battle inside Moretti Manor was swift, brutal, and calculated.

Dominic Valenti had brought forty men, believing he was raiding a vulnerable mansion with an unsuspecting target. What he didn't know was that Alessandro Moretti had designed the floor plan himself—every hallway was a choke point, every archway a blind spot, every shadow a death trap.

For twenty minutes, the sounds of suppressed gunfire, shattering glass, and panicked shouts filled the lower levels. Alessandro moved like a phantom through his own home. He knew every creaking floorboard, every hidden service passage. One by one, Valenti's mercenaries fell in the dark, caught in crossfires executed by Moretti's loyal security team.

By 2:15 AM, the main foyer was dead silent once again.

The front doors hung off their hinges. Rain blew inside, soaking the Persian rugs. Smoke from flashbang grenades hung thick in the air, smelling of sulfur and burnt cordite.

Dominic Valenti stood near the grand fireplace, his suit stained with soot, his hand shaking as he aimed his revolver at the empty shadows. All forty of his men had been neutralized or captured. He was entirely alone.

"Moretti!" Valenti screamed, his raspy voice cracking with hysterical rage. "Show yourself, you coward! You think you're a king?! You're nothing! Your father was nothing, and your wife died like a dog in the street!"

A dark figure stepped out from the shadows near the balcony stairs.

Alessandro walked down the marble steps slowly, unhurriedly. He had a minor cut along his cheekbone where a glass shard had grazed him, but otherwise, his dark suit was pristine. He held no gun in his hands—only a heavy steel briefcase.

"My wife died because you paid a mechanic five hundred dollars to cut her brake lines, Dominic," Alessandro said, his voice flat, emotionless, and terrifyingly calm. "I have waited seven years to confirm that fact."

Valenti raised his revolver, aiming straight at Alessandro's chest. "Then join her in hell!"

CLICK.

Valenti frantically pulled the trigger again.

CLICK. CLICK.

He stared down at his gun in shock. The cylinder was empty. He had fired his last rounds into the shadows ten minutes ago.

Alessandro didn't even pause his step. He reached Valenti, grabbed the old mobster by his collar, and slammed him face-first against the heavy mahogany mantlepiece. Bones cracked sharply as Valenti let out a wet, gurgling scream.

"You used Victoria Hale," Alessandro murmured into Valenti's ear, pinning him down with a heavy forearm across his throat. "You used a child's toy. You brought violence into the room where my daughter was supposed to sleep."

"Please..." Valenti choked out, his arrogance evaporating into pure, pathetic terror. "Alessandro... we can make a deal... the ports... I'll give you the entire eastern sector..."

"I already took the eastern sector twenty minutes ago," Alessandro whispered. "While your men were breaching my gate, my lieutenants seized your warehouses, your ships, and your bank servers. The Valenti family no longer exists."

Alessandro tossed the heavy steel briefcase onto the floor beside them. It popped open, revealing dozens of bound legal files, hard drives, and financial ledgers.

"The federal prosecutor is waiting outside my gate right now," Alessandro said. "Along with two dozen federal marshals. You aren't dying tonight in my house, Dominic. That would be too quick. You are going to spend the rest of your natural life in a maximum-security federal facility, watching my family thrive while yours rots in obscurity."

Two federal agents stepped through the shattered front doors, weapons lowered, followed by Marco and four Moretti guards.

"Take him," Alessandro ordered, throwing Valenti toward the officers like a piece of discarded trash.

As the marshals hauled the weeping, broken old mobster away into the rain, Marco walked up to Alessandro, holding a secondary set of handcuffs.

"And Miss Hale, boss?" Marco asked. "The federal agents have a warrant for her arrest based on the financial wiretaps we recovered from her phone."

Alessandro turned toward the wine cellar corridor. "Bring her up."

A minute later, Victoria was dragged into the ruined foyer by two guards. Her face was smudged with dirt, her mascara running down her cheeks. When she saw the federal agents and the ruined remnants of Valenti's syndicate, she knew her life of luxury, privilege, and ambition was over forever.

She looked at Alessandro, her eyes filled with desperate, bitter hatred. "You ruined me! You destroyed my family!"

May you like

"You destroyed yourself the moment you looked at a mother and a four-year-old child and decided they were disposable," Alessandro replied coldly.

He turned his back on her as the agents snapped the steel cuffs around her wrists and led her out into the stormy night.
