Chapter 5 - The Reckoning at DawnAt 4:00 A.M., the casino floor fell into its familiar, quiet lull.

Victor Sterling stood near the executive exit, waiting for his head of security, Brody, to bring him fresh documents to sign. But instead of Brody, the heavy double doors of the casino lobby burst open.

A dozen armed federal agents, accompanied by representatives from the State Attorney General's Office, poured into the building.

Leading them was Claire Mercer, holding a sealed judicial warrant and a glowing tablet.

Sterling’s face turned white. “What is the meaning of this? Do you know who I am?”

“Victor Sterling,” Claire announced, her voice echoing with absolute authority across the marble lobby, “you are under arrest for federal obstruction of justice, framing a public employee, evidence tampering, and financial fraud.”

Sterling sneered, looking toward his legal team. “You have no proof! My servers are secure!”

Claire tapped the screen, projecting a high-definition video onto the casino's main lobby display.

The video clearly showed Brody and Sterling standing in the private room three months ago, placing forged ledger files into Leo Reed’s locker while Sterling openly discussed using the young valet as a fall guy for his tax evasion scheme.

Gasps filled the room from the remaining patrons and employees.

Brody was handcuffed on the spot, and within moments, federal agents clicked heavy steel cuffs around Victor Sterling’s wrists.

As Sterling was led past Table 12 in disgrace, he stared at Daniel Mercer, who stood quietly by the bar, holding a warm cup of coffee.

“You ruined me, Mercer!” Sterling spat. “You threw away millions for a cleaning woman and a busboy!”

Daniel looked Sterling dead in the eyes with cold, quiet dignity.

“I didn't throw anything away, Victor,” Daniel said softly. “I finally bought something that was actually worth having.”
