PART 4: A House Divided

The revelation tore the household apart. Grace confronted Caleb in the living room, throwing the truth in his face.
"You didn't do your research, Caleb!" Grace shouted, tears streaming down her face. "You let your grief blind you! Katherine didn't destroy Beatrice—her father did. Katherine was a victim who tried to save her!"
Caleb shook his head frantically, refusing to believe it. "No! She's lying to you, Mom! She's a master manipulator! She manipulated you, she manipulated me—"
"Enough!" Robert roared, stepping between them. "Look at yourself, son. Look at what you've become. You've turned our family home into a house of cruelty. Until you can prove Katherine is lying, you sleep on the couch. And you stay away from her."
For the next two weeks, the house in Oakhaven Springs was shrouded in a suffocating silence. The beautiful wedding string lights still hung in the garden, now looking like a cruel mockery of what should have been.

Katherine stayed in the guest room, refusing to eat, her spirit completely broken. Caleb remained on the couch, stubbornly staring at the ceiling, consumed by a toxic mix of doubt, rage, and lingering love for the woman he had severely wronged.
Grace, determined to find the absolute truth, took Caleb’s USB drive to a private investigator friend in Richmond. She needed hard, irrefutable evidence. She couldn't let her son destroy two lives over a lie.
