Chapter 4 - The Fall of the Architect"DOWN!" Dominic roared, grabbing Grace by her waist and throwing his heavy body over hers as the explosive charges planted beneath the floorboards of the server room detonate.

BOOM!
A deafening shockwave shattered the floor-to-ceiling glass windows of the executive office, blowing out the interior drywall and sending a storm of dust, concrete, and shattered glass flying through the air.
The ceiling lights flickered wildly before dying completely, plunging the top floor into pitch-black darkness, punctuated only by the red emergency strobes flashing along the walls and the howling wind from the storm outside.
Dominic coughed through the thick smoke, his heavy arms still locked around Grace, protecting her head and neck from falling debris.
"Grace! Are you hit?" Dominic demanded, his hands hurriedly checking her arms, torso, and shoulders for blood in the flashing red light.
"I'm... I'm okay!" Grace coughed, her hands gripping his heavy shoulders. "What about you?"
"I'm fine," Dominic growled, rolling off her and pulling his pistol back into his grip.
Across the shattered room, through the smoke, Arthur Vale was scrambling toward a private access stairwell behind his desk, holding the leather briefcase. Vanessa was on her knees nearby, screaming in terror as smoke filled her lungs, clutching her arm where a flying piece of glass had slashed her skin.
"Marcus! Get Vanessa out through the fire exit!" Dominic commanded into his radio, but the signal was dead—jammed by the explosion.
"Dominic! He's getting away!" Grace shouted, pointing through the haze toward Arthur’s fleeing figure.
Dominic stood up like a towering titan breaking through the ash, his eyes locked on his uncle's silhouette. "Not tonight."
He surged forward, leaping over the shattered remnants of the executive desk. Grace followed right behind him, stepping over the burning debris, her gun raised to cover his flank.
Arthur reached the metal door of the private stairwell, frantically punching a code into the keypad.
"ARTHUR!" Dominic’s voice boomed like a crack of thunder through the burning office.
Arthur spun around, pulling a small silver revolver from his pocket, firing two wild shots through the smoke.
BANG! BANG!
One bullet whizzed past Dominic’s ear, embedding itself in the wall; the second caught Dominic in the left shoulder, shattering his ballistic vest's outer pad. Dominic grunted, stumbling back half a step, but the pain only fueled the absolute, terrifying fury surging through his blood.
He didn't slow down.
Dominic closed the distance in two giant strides, reaching out with his broad right hand, grabbing Arthur by his custom tie, and slamming the older man violently against the steel stairwell door.
THUD!
The silver revolver flew from Arthur’s hand, clattering down the dark stairwell inside.
"You shot your father's son," Dominic growled, his face inches from Arthur's, his iron grip choking the air from his uncle's throat. "You destroyed innocent families. You brought shame to my name."
Arthur gasped for breath, his eyes bulging with terror as he looked into the icy, murderous face of the nephew he had tried to destroy. "Dominic... please... we're family... blood..."
"Blood doesn't buy forgiveness in my house, Arthur," Dominic whispered, his voice dangerously soft.
Before Dominic could press further, Arthur let out a wild, desperate scream, pulling a hidden blade from his sleeve and slashing it toward Dominic’s throat.
Dominic reacted instantly, leaning his head back, but the blade grazed his cheek, drawing a line of dark red blood.
Arthur broke free, turning to sprint down the dark metal stairs of the emergency exit.
He didn't make it three steps.
Grace appeared at the top of the stairwell door. Without a moment's hesitation, she raised her pistol and fired a precise shot directly into the concrete step right between Arthur’s moving feet.
BANG!
Arthur panicked, his foot catching the edge of the riser, and he pitched forward with a terrified yell, tumbling head-first down twenty steep metal steps, crashing violently against the concrete landing below with a sickening crunch.
Silence fell over the stairwell, save for the howling wind and the crackle of burning wiring above.
Dominic stepped to the edge of the stairwell, looking down. Arthur lay at the bottom, unconscious, his arm bent at an unnatural angle, his leather briefcase popped open, scattering millions of dollars in forged bearer bonds across the concrete floor.
Dominic let out a heavy breath, wiping the blood from his cheek with the back of his hand.
He turned slowly to look at Grace.
She was standing in the doorway, the smoking pistol held loosely at her side, her chest heaving, her dark eyes shining through the smoke and ash. She looked fierce, beautiful, and utterly unbroken.
Dominic walked over to her, stopping right in front of her. Without saying a word, he reached out, taking the heavy gun from her trembling fingers and setting it on a nearby window ledge.
Then, he wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her flush against his chest, burying his face in her neck as he held her tight against his heart.
Grace wrapped her arms around his back, clinging to him as the adrenaline finally began to ebb away, replaced by a deep, overwhelming sense of safety in his arms.
"It's over, Grace," Dominic whispered into her hair, his strong chest rising and falling against hers. "Your father's name is clear. The truth is out."
Grace pulled back slightly, looking up into his scarred, handsome face, her fingers reaching up to softly touch the small cut on his cheek. "We did it."
"You did it," Dominic corrected softly, his gray eyes searching hers with a tender, intense devotion she had never seen in him before. "You brought down an empire to bring me the truth."
May you like
He leaned down, pressing his lips to hers in a deep, fierce, intoxicating kiss that tasted of rain, smoke, and redemption.
Grace gasped softly into his mouth, her fingers tangling into his thick dark hair, surrendering completely to the overwhelming fire burning between them—a passion born not from convenience or business, but from shared survival and absolute, unbreakable trust.
