Chapter 6 - A Crown of Ivory and GoldThree months later, the Moretti estate looked entirely different.

The heavy, suffocating gloom that had once hung over the marble halls was gone, replaced by the soft, steady hum of genuine life. Sunlight poured through the tall arched windows of the music room, illuminating the grand piano where Isabella Moretti sat, her posture straight, her fingers resting gently upon the ivory keys.

She could still only speak in fragments, but her laughter—clear and bright—filled the room as Naomi adjusted a cashmere shawl around her shoulders.

From the doorway, Luca watched them, a mug of coffee in his hand. He wasn't wearing his usual corporate armor; dressed in a simple dark sweater, he looked relaxed, grounded, and entirely complete in a way he had never been before meeting the young woman who had saved his family.

Isabella glanced up from the piano, her sharp eyes twinkling with knowing mischief. She raised one hand and pressed a single, resonant low note on the keys.

Yes.

Then she pointed her finger playfully between Naomi and Luca, following it with a soft, cheerful high note.

Naomi felt a blush burn across her cheeks, laughing as she shook her head at the old matriarch. “Behave, Isabella, or I won't bring you your favorite pastries this afternoon.”

Luca chuckled, walking across the polished floor. He set his coffee cup down on the sideboard and wrapped his arms around Naomi’s waist from behind, resting his chin comfortably on her shoulder as he looked down at his mother.

“She’s never going to behave, sweetheart,” Luca murmured into Naomi’s ear, his voice rich with warmth. “She knows she holds all the cards in this house.”

Naomi leaned back against his solid chest, turning her head slightly so her lips brushed his cheek. She felt the heavy diamond ring resting on her left ring finger—a quiet, undeniable promise that had claimed her before the entire city weeks ago during a high-society gala where Luca had proudly introduced her not as a caretaker, but as his equal, his partner, and the true mistress of the Moretti dynasty.

The piano notes began again—not the melancholic, tragic Chopin of the past, but a bright, flowing melody that echoed through the sunlit halls, promising a future built not on fear and power, but on loyalty, truth, and an unbreakable love.
