Chapter 6 - The Queen of GraybridgeSix months later.

The summer sun shone brightly over the rolling green hills of the Wolf estate, casting golden light across the manicured gardens, the sparkling fountains, and the deep blue waters of the harbor beyond.
The harbor was thriving under Gideon’s unified control. The criminal elements that had threatened the city had been completely purged, replaced by a sophisticated, highly organized network of legitimate maritime trade and private security operations.
In the central courtyard of the estate, a grand celebration was underway.
Dozens of high-ranking trade officials, doctors from Johns Hopkins, and loyal estate staff gathered beneath a canopy of white roses.
Norah stood on the upper terrace, wearing a simple, breathtaking ivory dress that caught the warm summer breeze. In her hand she held a leather-bound diploma—she had just officially completed her board certification in clinical pharmacology, fully funded by the newly established Blake Medical Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free medical care and rare-disease research for low-income families in Graybridge.
A pair of strong arms wrapped gently around her waist from behind.
Norah leaned back into Gideon’s chest, letting out a long, contented sigh as he rested his chin on her shoulder.
He looked healthy, powerful, and remarkably happy. The dark shadows that had once haunted his eyes were entirely gone, replaced by an intense, unwavering devotion to the woman in his arms.
"Dr. Mercer just called," Gideon whispered in her good ear, his voice rich and deep. "He wants to know if you'll accept an honorary chair on the state medical board."
Norah chuckled softly, turning in his arms to face him. "I told him I’m too busy running your medical protocols, Mr. Wolf."
"Good," Gideon smiled, his thumb gently tracing her cheekbone. "Because I don't like sharing my chief advisor with state boards."
He reached into his jacket pocket and pulled out a small, velvet-lined box.
Inside sat a breathtaking ring—a flawless, emerald-cut pink diamond set in platinum, sparkling brilliantly under the afternoon sun.
Norah’s breath hitched in her throat. She looked from the ring up into his amber eyes.
"A pink diamond?" she whispered, tears of happiness pricking her eyes.
"To remind me every single day," Gideon said, his voice thick with deep, overwhelming emotion, "of the pink ring at the bottom of a glass... and the extraordinary woman who saved my life when twelve doctors gave up."
He took her hand, sliding the ring onto her finger.
"Norah Blake," Gideon murmured softly, pulling her closer. "Will you do me the honor of becoming my wife? Will you rule this estate, this foundation, and this city beside me?"
Norah looked into the eyes of the man who had given her a purpose, a voice, and a love deeper than anything she had ever imagined.
"Yes," Norah whispered, tears spilling over her eyelashes. "Yes, Gideon. Absolutely yes."
Gideon leaned down, pulling her into a deep, passionate kiss that took her breath away, as the warm summer breeze rustled through the white roses around them.
Standing near the edge of the terrace, Arthur Finch raised his champagne glass toward the couple, a rare, genuine smile on his face.
