Chapter 4 - The Syndicate SummitTwo weeks after Salvatore’s arrest, the underworld of the East Coast was in a state of profound shock. Whispers had circulated through the shadows that Gabriel Falcone had not only survived the assassination attempt, but had emerged stronger, more ruthless, and more focused than ever.

To solidify his absolute control over the New York shipping lanes and put an end to the Moretti syndicate’s encroachment, Gabriel called a formal summit at the grand ballroom of a secluded estate in upstate New York.

Dozens of high-ranking bosses, underbosses, and capos gathered around a massive oak table, murmuring nervously as they waited for Gabriel to arrive. Among them sat Don Vincent Moretti, an arrogant, silver-haired mafia boss from New Jersey who had secretly partnered with Salvatore. Moretti sat smugly, believing Salvatore’s betrayal was still a well-kept secret.

The heavy double doors swung open.

Gabriel walked in, flanked by Carmine and six armed guards. But what caught everyone’s attention was the young woman walking gracefully at his side. Elena wore an exquisite, custom-tailored midnight-blue velvet suit, her dark hair pinned back in an elegant twist, carrying herself with an air of undeniable authority and quiet poise.

Moretti scoffed openly, leaning back in his chair. "Gabriel, I hear congratulations are in order for your recovery. But bringing a maid to a high-level syndicate table? Have you lost your mind in your old age?"

The entire room went dead silent. Several capos winced, knowing what usually happened to anyone who insulted Gabriel Falcone.

Gabriel didn't raise his voice. He pulled out the central chair at the head of the table, seated Elena comfortably, and then took his own seat beside her. He rested his hands on the mahogany surface, looking across at Moretti with a cold, terrifying smile.

"Vincent," Gabriel said smoothly. "Meet Elena Ross. My chief financial strategist and the person who currently holds the legal documentation proving your recent financial entanglements with my traitorous cousin, Salvatore."

Moretti’s face drained of color. He slammed his palms onto the table and stood up. "That's a fabrication! You have no proof—"

"I have bank routing numbers, signed contracts, encrypted emails, and audio recordings of your meetings in Hoboken," Elena interrupted, her voice clear, calm, and carrying across the entire silent room without a hint of fear. She opened a sleek leather portfolio and slid three notarized documents across the polished wood toward Moretti. "You attempted to purchase hijacked cargo containers using stolen Falcone credentials. Under syndicate bylaws—and federal law—that constitutes an act of war."

Moretti stared down at the documents, trembling with rage and panic. He looked around the table for support, but every single boss had averted their eyes, realizing that Gabriel held all the cards and that Moretti had walked directly into a trap.
