Chapter 6 - Where the Wild Roses Bloom

One year later.

The sun shone brightly over the gardens of the Rosetti estate. White roses blossomed along the stone walls, filling the warm summer air with a rich, sweet fragrance.

The grand courtyard was filled with music, laughter, and light.

Dominic had officially dissolved the criminal operations of the Rosetti syndicate, transforming the vast empire into a legitimate global security firm and philanthropic foundation aimed at funding cancer research and child welfare across the country. The dark alleyways and blood feuds were replaced by honor, legacy, and peace.

A grand wooden stage stood near the fountain.

Lena stood in front of a mirror inside her bridal suite, wearing a breathtaking gown of pure white silk, embroidered with delicate silver lace. Her skin was glowing, her hair long and full, every trace of her past sickness and poverty erased by love and health.

A soft knock sounded at the door.

Mrs. Bellamy stepped inside, holding a small wooden box. "Miss Lena... Mr. Rosetti asked me to give you this before the ceremony."

Lena opened the box. Inside lay a single crisp, laminated bill—an eight-dollar bill, framed beside a photo of the alley off Ashmont Street where she had found Lily two years ago.

Written across the bottom in Dominic’s elegant script were four words:

The best investment I ever made.

Tears of immense happiness filled Lena’s eyes.

Out in the garden, two hundred guests cheered as the music began.

Dominic stood at the altar, wearing a pristine black tuxedo, looking handsome and majestic. Beside him stood Dr. Catherine Vance and his chief of security, acting as his groomsmen.

Lily, now nine years old, walked down the aisle first as the flower girl, scattering white rose petals on the velvet carpet, wearing a silver wolf bracelet that caught the afternoon light.

And then came Lena.

The crowd stood up in awe as Lena walked down the aisle, her hand resting gracefully on the arm of the chief surgeon who had saved her life.

Dominic’s eyes filled with tears as he watched his bride approach. The cold, unyielding mafia boss who had once ruled Chicago through fear was gone—replaced by a man whose heart belonged entirely to the woman standing before him.

When Lena reached the altar, Dominic took her hands into his own, bending down to whisper, "You look like an angel."

"And you look like my home," Lena replied softly.

The priest began the holy vows:

"Do you, Dominic Rosetti, take Lena Marks to be your wedded wife, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, until death do you part?"

Dominic looked deep into Lena’s eyes, his voice steady and powerful, carrying across the silent gardens. "I do."

"And do you, Lena Marks, take Dominic Rosetti to be your wedded husband, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, until death do you part?"

Lena smiled, her voice ringing with absolute certainty. "I do."

"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride!"

Dominic pulled Lena into his arms, dipping her gently as he pressed his lips to hers in a passionate, eternal kiss. The crowd erupted into thunderous applause, throwing rose petals into the bright blue sky.

Lily ran up to the altar, jumping into their arms, hugging them both tightly.

Later that night, as the music played softly across the illuminated grounds, Dominic and Lena stepped onto the private balcony overlooking the gardens.

The rain from years past was gone, replaced by a clear sky filled with millions of sparkling stars.

Dominic wrapped his arms around Lena from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder, his hands resting gently over hers.

"What are you thinking about, Mrs. Rosetti?" he asked softly into her ear.

Lena looked out over the estate, at her happy daughter playing on the lawn below, at her diamond ring catching the starlight, and at the man who had given her everything when she had nothing.

"I’m thinking about that alley," Lena whispered, turning her head to kiss his cheek. "I had eight dollars in my pocket and no hope left in my heart. But because I stopped... I found a miracle."

May you like

Dominic smiled, holding her close against his beating chest. "You were the miracle, Lena. You saved us both."

And under the starry sky of Chicago, where the wild roses bloomed, the waitress with eight dollars and the wolf of Chicago lived happily ever after.
