Chapter 6 - The True FoundationThree months later, the spring sun bathed the Briar Glen estate in brilliant, warm light, erasing the cold shadows of the past winter.

The security perimeter had been doubled, the traitorous domestic staff—including Mrs. Gable, who had been implicated in leaking security blind spots to the Moretti syndicate—were serving long prison sentences, and the Rossi estate was finally at peace.
Inside the grand sunroom on the south wing, a celebration was underway.
It wasn't a mafia summit or a corporate gala. It was a first-birthday party for a thriving, giggling baby boy named Leo Rossi, who was currently covered in blue frosting as he smashed a high-chair cupcake with enthusiastic abandon.
Elena sat beside him, laughing as she wiped frosting off his nose with a warm cloth. She wore a stunning emerald-green summer dress, her posture radiating confidence, grace, and an unshakable inner strength.
Standing behind her chair with his hands resting gently on her shoulders was Lorenzo. His stern, terrifying facade was completely gone, replaced by the soft, relaxed expression of a man who had finally found his way home.
The heavy double doors of the sunroom opened, and Marcus stepped in, holding a sealed federal envelope.
"Boss," Marcus said, offering a respectful nod to Elena. "The federal prosecutor just sent over the final closure documents on the Moretti sweep. Their entire operation in the harbor has been dismantled. They're finished."
Lorenzo didn't even look at the envelope. His eyes remained fixed on Elena and his son. "File it in the shredder, Marcus. We don't look backward anymore."
"Yes, sir." Marcus smiled faintly and walked out, closing the doors behind him.
Lorenzo leaned down, pressing a soft, lingering kiss to Elena’s temple before whispering in her ear, "Are you ready for tonight? The private jet is fueled. Just the three of us. No guards, no fortresses, just a vacation in Italy."
Elena turned her head, looking up into his dark, loving eyes. A brilliant smile spread across her face—a smile that held no grief, no fear, and no emptiness, only a bright, beautiful future.
"I'm ready," she whispered.

Lorenzo reached out, taking her hand in his, intertwining their fingers securely.
Nobody in the city would ever forget the name Rossi, but inside the walls of this home, the reign of fear was over. It had been replaced by a much more powerful legacy: a family built on survival, bound by unconditional love, and saved by a mother’s unbreakable heart.
