Part 6: The Fall of the House of Vale

"You really think you've won, don't you?" I asked, taking a slow step forward.

"Don't move!" Marcus shouted, his hand shaking.

"You're a coward, Marcus," I said, my voice calm, filled with a strength I didn't know I possessed. "You've never built anything in your life. You just steal from the people who do. You stole from your sister. You stole from your own company. And now you want to steal from my daughter."

"Shut up!" he screamed.

Suddenly, the glass wall behind Marcus shattered.

A flashbang grenade exploded, filling the room with blinding light and a deafening roar. Marcus shrieked, dropping the gun and clutching his eyes.

The tactical team of the FBI burst through the doors, weapons raised. "Federal agents! Drop to the ground! Now!"

Marcus was slammed onto the floor, his face pressed against the broken glass. He wept as the handcuffs clicked into place.

Behind the agents walked Vivian. She wasn't in handcuffs yet, but she was flanked by two federal attorneys. Her face was completely devoid of emotion, like a marble statue of a fallen queen.

She looked at me, then at Elena in the chamber.

"You ruined us," Vivian whispered, her voice cracking. "For a girl who didn't even belong to your world."

"She belonged to me," I said coldly. "And I belong to her. Take them away."

As Vivian and Marcus were led out in chains, I rushed to the hyperbaric chamber. With the help of an FBI medical team that had arrived with the tactical unit, we unlocked the chamber.

I pulled out the syringe with the antidote Arthur had made. The lead FBI doctor checked it, nodded, and injected it directly into Elena’s central line.

"Now," the doctor said, "we wait."
