Chapter 4 - The Siege of Vale Manor

The estate erupted into violent chaos.

The heavy glass of the main foyer shattered as automatic gunfire echoed through the high-ceilinged hallways. Marco's mercenaries flooded the ground floor, firing blindly into the shadows.

Adrian moved through his own home with lethal, calculated precision. Utilizing hidden service corridors built into the thick walls, he bypassed the main halls, neutralizing Marco's men one by one with disciplined, fatal efficiency.

Lily stayed right at his back, her heart hammering against her ribs. She was terrified, but watching Adrian navigate the crisis filled her with an overwhelming sense of trust. He moved like a storm, completely focused on keeping her safe.

"We need to reach the coastal bunker beneath the boat house," Adrian whispered, leading her down a narrow stone staircase cut directly into the cliffside rock. "There is a high-speed craft docked there. I can get you out into open waters."

"What about you?" Lily demanded, her voice echoing softly in the damp stone stairwell.

"I have to clear my house," Adrian replied, setting his jaw. "If Marco takes control of the Vale network, hundreds of innocent people who rely on our legitimate businesses will suffer. I have to end this tonight."

"Then I'm staying with you!" Lily insisted, grabbing his arm.

"Lily, no—"

"You said I was part of this world the second I stopped you from opening that car door!" she shouted, her brown eyes blazing with fierce determination. "I am not going to run away and let you fight them alone!"

Adrian stared at her, stunned by her bravery. Before he could speak, a massive explosion shook the stairwell above them. Dust and stone fragments rained down as the heavy iron door at the top of the stairs was blown off its hinges.
