Chapter 6 - The Sovereign's QueenOne Year Later.

The sun shone brightly over the grand gardens of the Sovereign, reflecting off the sparkling blue ocean below. The dark, war-torn fortress had been completely transformed. The heavy steel shutters were gone, replaced by towering glass windows that let in warmth and light. Flowers bloomed along the terraces, and the sound of classical music drifted through the open doors.

In the grand courtyard, a massive celebration was underway.

Over two hundred guests—politicians, business moguls, and high-ranking members of the legitimate business community—were gathered around long tables draped in white linen and covered in fresh roses.

Leo Mason stood near the grand fountain, dressed in a sharp navy suit. He looked healthy, happy, and confident. Thanks to Gabriel, Leo was now running his own high-end automotive restoration shop in North End, completely clear of any debts, his future bright and secure.

"Looking good, kid," Matteo said, walking up and clinking his champagne glass against Leo's.

"Thanks, Matteo," Leo smiled, looking toward the grand balcony above the courtyard. "She deserves this. After everything she sacrificed for me... she deserves the world."

"She didn't just get the world," Matteo chuckled warmly. "She got the man who owns it."

On the third-floor balcony, looking down at the happy crowd, stood Ella.

She wore a breathtaking, custom-designed white silk gown with lace sleeves and a sweeping train. Her dark hair was styled in elegant curls, and a subtle diamond necklace—Gabriel's wedding gift—glistened against her collarbone.

She looked regal, magnificent, and entirely at peace.

Two heavy arms wrapped gently around her waist from behind. Gabriel pulled her back against his broad chest, resting his chin on her shoulder. He wore a tailored black tuxedo, looking impeccably handsome, his gray eyes soft with an overwhelming warmth.

"Are you happy, my Queen?" Gabriel whispered against her ear, his lips brushing the shell of her ear.

Ella turned in his arms, resting her hands on his broad lapels, looking up into the face of the man she loved.

"I am happier than I ever thought possible," Ella said softly, smiling up at him.

Over the past year, Gabriel had kept every single promise he made to her. He had systematically dismantled his illegal operations, transitioning the Russo empire into legitimate global shipping, real estate, and philanthropy. He had personally funded a new wing at the Boston Children's Hospital in her mother's memory, and he had enrolled Ella in a prestigious nursing degree program, supporting her dreams every step of the way.

The dark underworld boss had become a builder, a protector, and a devoted husband.

"I have a surprise for you," Gabriel murmured, reaching into his inner jacket pocket.

"Another one?" Ella laughed gently. "Gabriel, you already bought me a hospital wing."

"This is different," Gabriel said smoothly.

He pulled out a small, velvet-lined wooden box and opened it.

Inside lay a simple, rusted brass key attached to a polished silver keychain.

Ella blinked, looking at the key in confusion. "What is this?"

"I bought the Rusted Anchor yesterday," Gabriel revealed with a quiet smile. "I fired the owner, hired Lou as the general manager with a full pension, and transferred the deed of the property into your name."

Ella gasped, her eyes filling with tears of shock and happiness. "Gabriel... why?"

Gabriel took the key from the box and placed it gently into her palm, closing her fingers over it.

"Because," Gabriel whispered, his voice thick with deep emotion, "that filthy, terrible bar is the place where my life actually began. It's the place where a brave, beautiful woman stepped into the rain and saved a dying man."

Ella wiped a happy tear from her cheek, leaning up on her tiptoes to wrap her arms around his neck.

"You know," Ella whispered mischievously, her eyes dancing with warm light, "I still remember what you said to me that night on my couch."

Gabriel smirked, his hands resting possessively on her waist. "Oh yeah? What did I say?"

"You said, 'Nobody steps in front of a bullet for Gabriel Russo without a price.'"

Gabriel chuckled—a deep, rich sound that filled Ella's heart with complete warmth. He leaned down, his lips hovering an inch from hers, his gray eyes shining with eternal devotion.

"And what was the price, Mrs. Russo?" Gabriel rasped softly.

Ella smiled, closing the distance between them, pressing her lips to his in a long, sweet, passionate kiss that echoed with all the love, danger, and beauty of their shared journey.

May you like

"Your heart," Ella whispered against his lips. "And you paid in full."

Gabriel pulled her tight against his chest, kissing her deeply under the bright Boston sun, surrounded by peace, safety, and a love that had conquered the dark.
