Chapter 6 - The Kingdom AwakensOne year later.

The grand ballroom of the Plaza Hotel was bathed in golden light, overflowing with white orchids, crystal chandeliers, and the most powerful figures in North America.
Politicians, corporate titans, and syndicate leaders sat side-by-side at round tables draped in black silk.
At the center head table sat Lorenzo and Valerie Costa.
Valerie was breathtaking. She wore a custom-designed gold sequin gown that hugged every magnificent curve of her body with radiant pride. A diamond necklace sparkled at her throat, matching the massive emerald on her finger.
Beside her, Lorenzo wore a classic black tuxedo, his eyes never straying far from his wife. His hand rested lovingly on her back, his fingers tracing small circles against the silk fabric.
Bianca Dawson sat at the table beside them, sipping champagne, her eyes shining with tears of joy.
"I told you not to wear that navy suit," Bianca whispered loudly across the table with a wink.
Valerie laughed—a rich, beautiful sound that echoed over the soft classical music playing in the background. "You were right, Bianca. Courage really was waiting outside my comfort zone."
Lorenzo stood up, taking his champagne glass and tapping a silver spoon against the crystal. The entire ballroom instantly fell dead silent. Five hundred powerful men and women looked toward the head table with absolute reverence.
"Friends, partners, and family," Lorenzo began, his powerful voice commanding the room. "One year ago, I was a man who believed power was measured by fear, weapons, and control."
He turned his head, looking down at Valerie with an open, unapologetic adoration that moved several guests to tears.
"Then a brilliant, breathtaking woman walked into my world," Lorenzo continued. "She didn't fear my shadows. She brought logic to my chaos, warmth to my cold world, and reminded me that the greatest power a man can possess is the love of a queen who stands beside him as an equal."
He raised his glass high into the air.
"To my wife, Valerie—the heart, mind, and true ruler of the Costa kingdom."
The entire ballroom erupted into a roaring, standing ovation. Glasses clinked, cheers echoed off the gold-leaf ceiling, and flashbulbs illuminated the room.
Lorenzo set his glass down, leaned down, and pulled Valerie up into his arms. He wrapped his coat around her waist, pulling her flush against his body as he kissed her deeply in front of the entire world.
Valerie wrapped her soft arms around his neck, holding onto the man who had seen her abundance as a blessing, her mind as a weapon, and her love as his ultimate prize.
