Chapter 6 - The True Queen of Lomas de Chapultepec

One year later.

Spring had arrived in Mexico City. The grand gardens of the estate in Lomas de Chapultepec were ablaze with blooming pink bougainvillea, white roses, and lush green palms.

The cold, oppressive atmosphere that had once shrouded the mansion was entirely gone, replaced by the sounds of children’s laughter, upbeat traditional music, and the delicious aroma of fresh Oaxacan tamales and grilled meats.

In the center of the garden stood an elegant white pavilion covered in fresh jasmine flowers.

Over two hundred guests—including Alejandro’s closest genuine friends, loyal employees from Rivers Global, Carlos Mendoza, and Rosita’s entire extended family who had been flown in from her home village—were seated along the grassy aisle.

Standing at the altar, looking handsomer than ever in a dark navy tailored tuxedo, was Alejandro Rivers.

Beside him stood Carlos Mendoza as his best man, while three-year-old Diego and Santiago, dressed in tiny tuxedoes, stood proudly holding a velvet pillow carrying two simple, beautiful gold wedding bands.

The string quartet began to play a breathtaking rendition of Cielito Lindo.

The crowd stood up, turning toward the rose-lined archway.

Walking down the aisle, holding the arm of her proud, elderly father, was Rosita.

She looked like a vision from a dream.

She wore an exquisite, hand-embroidered white silk gown crafted by indigenous artisans from her hometown, accented with delicate lace and a long veil that trailed gracefully over the green grass. She wore no expensive diamonds, no ostentatious jewelry—only a simple wreath of fresh white orchids in her dark, gleaming hair.

Her face was radiant, her skin glowing with absolute health, happiness, and inner nobility.

Alejandro’s breath caught in his chest. As he watched her walk toward him, tears of overwhelming gratitude filled his eyes.

When her father placed Rosita’s hand into Alejandro’s broad palm, Alejandro leaned down and whispered softly into her ear:

"You are the most beautiful sight my eyes have ever seen."

Rosita blushed, her dark eyes sparkling with deep, unshakeable love. "I love you, Alejandro."

The local priest stepped forward, his voice warm and solemn as he conducted the ceremony under the bright blue Mexican sky.

"Do you, Alejandro Rivers, take Rosita to be your lawful wedded wife, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, in darkness and in light, for richer or for poorer, until death do you part?"

Alejandro looked deep into Rosita’s eyes, holding her hands tightly against his chest.

"I do," Alejandro said, his voice ringing out loud, clear, and steady across the garden. "With all my heart, my soul, and my life."

"And do you, Rosita, take Alejandro to be your lawful wedded husband, to love, honor, and cherish, as a wife and as a mother to his children, until death do you part?"

Rosita smiled, a tear of pure happiness gliding down her cheek.

"I do," Rosita whispered softly, yet firmly.

"By the authority vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife," the priest smiled broadly. "You may kiss the bride!"

Alejandro didn't hesitate. He pulled Rosita gently into his arms, dipping her back slightly as he pressed his lips against hers in a passionate, loving kiss that caused the entire garden to erupt into wild cheers, applause, and thrown rose petals!

Diego and Santiago squealed with delight, running forward to wrap their tiny arms around their parents' legs!

"Mommy! Daddy!" the boys cheered, jumping up and down.

Alejandro picked up Santiago, while Rosita scooped up little Diego, and together, the family turned toward the cheering crowd, holding hands under the warm afternoon sun.

Later that evening, as the stars twinkled above Mexico City and the wedding guests danced to a lively mariachi band on the lawn, Alejandro and Rosita walked out onto the private second-floor balcony overlooking the estate.

Alejandro wrapped his arms around Rosita from behind, resting his chin gently on her shoulder while they watched their sons playing below with their cousins under the watchful, loving eyes of Rosita’s mother.

"What are you thinking about, my love?" Rosita asked softly, leaning back against his chest and resting her hands over his.

Alejandro looked out over the glowing lights of the city, then down at his wife's radiant face.

"I was thinking about the crash," Alejandro murmured quietly. "For months, I thought losing my sight was the worst tragedy that could ever happen to a man."

He turned her gently in his arms, cupping her cheeks with his hands, looking into her eyes with a love so profound it transcended words.

"But now I realize," Alejandro whispered, "that going blind was the greatest blessing of my life. Because when my eyes were closed, my heart finally learned how to see who was truly worthy of love."

Rosita smiled, raising her lips to meet his under the starlight.

"And you found me," she whispered.

May you like

"No," Alejandro smiled softly, kissing her sweet lips. "You saved us."
