Chapter 4 - The Aftermath of Power

The drive home was quiet. Gabriel gripped the steering wheel, his knuckles white. He was furious—not at Claire, but at the world that had dared to touch her.
"You didn't have to ruin her," Claire said softly, breaking the silence.
Gabriel glanced at her. "She hurt you. She tried to strip you of your dignity for content. The world is full of people like that, Claire. If you don't show them the cost, they will never stop."
"I know," Claire whispered. "But I don't want to be the reason for destruction. I just wanted her to stop."
