PART 2 – THE WOMAN THEY NEVER KNEW

Fear stayed with Daniel long after the conference room emptied.
Executives whispered in small groups while phones rang nonstop. The company's stock had not even opened for trading, yet banks, suppliers, and investors were all demanding answers.
The CEO turned toward Daniel.
"What happened between you and your wife last night?"
Daniel forced a smile.
"It has nothing to do with business."
"Then I hope you're right," the CEO replied. "Because someone with extraordinary power has declared war on this company."
Daniel laughed it off, but the confidence in his voice had disappeared.
Across town, Elena sat beside the bassinets where Rose and Leo slept peacefully.
For the first time in days, she could breathe.
Mara entered the room carrying several folders.
"The board is waiting."
Elena looked at her sleeping twins before standing carefully.
"I'll only be gone thirty minutes."
"You've already worked enough."
"My children deserve a future where no one can ever threaten them again."
On the top floor of Vale Global Headquarters, twenty board members stood the moment Elena entered.
None of them had seen her since she began maternity leave.
"Good morning, Madam Chair."
Elena nodded.
"Please sit."
A large screen displayed Harrow Automotive's financial records.
The Chief Financial Officer spoke first.
"They're carrying enormous debt. Without our support, they'll run out of operating cash within two weeks."
"What about the employees?" Elena asked.
"They're innocent," another director answered.
"Exactly."
Elena looked around the room.
"We're not destroying jobs. We're removing corrupt leadership."
Several directors exchanged approving glances.
"The factories stay open. Employee salaries are guaranteed."
"And the Harrow family?"
"The law will decide their future."
Back at Harrow Automotive, Daniel called Elena again.
The number was disconnected.
He tried her email.
No reply.
He even contacted the hospital where she had delivered the twins.
"There is no patient by that name," the receptionist answered.
His frustration turned into anger.
"Where did she go?"
No one knew.
At the Harrow mansion, Vivian paced across the living room.
"Has she called yet?"
Daniel shook his head.
"No."
Vivian smirked.
"She'll be back. Women like her always come back."
Just then, the doorbell rang.
Vivian smiled.
"I told you."
She opened the door expecting Elena.
Instead, two professionally dressed men stood outside.
"Mrs. Vivian Harrow?"
"Yes?"
"We represent Northstar Residential Trust."
She frowned.
"What is this?"
The older man handed her an envelope.
"You have been formally notified that this property is under new management."
Vivian laughed.
"This is our house."
"I'm afraid it is not."
He calmly pointed to the legal documents.
"The trust is the registered owner. Occupants are required to vacate within seventy-two hours."
Daniel grabbed the papers.
"This has to be a mistake."
"There is no mistake."
The men left without another word.
For the first time, silence filled the mansion.
Meanwhile, Mara received an update.
"The eviction notice has been delivered."
Elena simply nodded.
"No celebration."
"They're losing everything."
"They chose this."
Mara smiled slightly.
"You still refuse to enjoy revenge."
"I enjoy justice."
That afternoon, Daniel finally reached his father, Richard Harrow.
"What do you mean we lost the shares?"
Richard sounded exhausted.
"I borrowed against them to expand the business."
"You never told me."
"I expected to repay the loan."
"So who owns the company now?"
"I don't know."
The line went quiet.
Richard spoke again.
"Whoever bought those shares planned this months ago."
At Vale Global, another meeting was already underway.
Victoria Grant entered Elena's office.
"The takeover is complete."
"And the executives?"
"Most are willing to cooperate."
"Keep them."
"What about Daniel?"
Elena looked out the window.
"He'll receive the same treatment as everyone else."
Victoria smiled knowingly.
"Not because he's your husband."
"Because he's an employee."
Late that evening, Daniel sat alone in his office.
He opened an old photo stored on his phone.
It showed Elena laughing in a tiny apartment before they were married.
Back then, she always smiled.
When had that smile disappeared?
He couldn't remember.
His thoughts were interrupted by another email.
Mandatory Executive Meeting – 9:00 A.M. Tomorrow
Attendance Required.
Hosted by the New Chairwoman.
Daniel leaned back in his chair.
May you like
Tomorrow he would finally meet the person responsible for destroying his family's empire.
He had no idea that the woman he planned to face was the same wife he had abandoned in the snow less than twenty-four hours earlier.
