Chapter 4 - Blood and Alliances

The rain poured relentlessly as Gabriel’s convoy of black SUVs sped down the highway toward the Boston docks.
Arthur Whitaker and Victor Valenti, the ruthless head of the Valenti crime family, had staged a hostile takeover of one of Gabriel's primary warehouses. They thought that by hitting his wallet and threatening his new vulnerability—Elena—they could force him to sign over his shipping territories and take Camille back to restore the alliance.
Inside the warehouse, Arthur and Victor stood surrounded by dozens of armed henchmen. Camille was there too, wearing a dark trench coat, a malicious smirk plastered across her face.
"He'll come," Camille said confidently. "Gabriel never lets anyone challenge his authority. And when he does, we kill him, and I take over the Moretti assets."
Suddenly, the massive steel doors of the warehouse were blown off their hinges with a deafening explosion.
Smoke filled the air as Gabriel’s men stormed the building, tactical gear tight and weapons raised. A fierce firefight broke out, gunfire echoing like thunder inside the metallic structure.
Gabriel walked through the smoke, completely unfazed by the bullets flying around him. He held a sleek black pistol in his right hand, firing with lethal, mathematical precision. Every shot he took dropped a Valenti soldier.
"Whitaker!" Gabriel’s voice echoed above the chaos.
Arthur Whitaker panicked, trying to scramble toward the back exit, but Marco intercepted him, slamming him against a stack of wooden crates and disarming him instantly.
Victor Valenti tried to raise his weapon against Gabriel, but Gabriel was faster. He shot Victor cleanly through the shoulder, sending the rival boss crashing to the ground in agony.
Within minutes, the warehouse was secured. The Valenti men lay disarmed and defeated on the floor.
Gabriel walked up to Camille, who was trembling violently, her previous confidence evaporating into thin air. He pointed his gun directly at her forehead.
"Please, Gabriel! No!" she sobbed, falling to her knees. "It was my father's idea! I didn't want to do this!"
"You targeted an innocent girl because your pride was hurt," Gabriel said, his voice dropping to a terrifying whisper. "You thought you could play in my world, Camille. But you are just a spoiled child. I don't kill women. But I will ruin you."

Gabriel lowered his gun and looked at Marco. "Hand Arthur and Victor over to the federal authorities. I’ve already sent the FBI the encrypted files detailing twenty years of the Whitaker family's illegal smuggling and tax evasion. By tomorrow morning, the Whitaker name will be worthless."
He turned his back on a weeping Camille, leaving her to await the flashing blue lights of the police.
