Chapter 1 - The Breaking Point and the Ellison VengeanceThe twentieth strike never landed. Claire caught the heavy leather riding belt in her bleeding hand, looked her husband straight in the eyes, and delivered a chilling warning [cite:

Behind him, Vanessa Vale—his silver-tongued mistress, corporate parasite, and self-proclaimed executive consultant—stood near the marble fireplace draped in Claire’s luxury silk robe, a smug and satisfied smile plastered across her face. Just twenty minutes prior, Vanessa had manufactured a vicious conspiracy, accusing Claire of leaking confidential corporate strategies from Adrian’s company, Mercer Dynamics.
“She’s jealous of your success,” Vanessa had purred, sinking her claws deeper into Adrian’s fragile ego.
Adrian swallowed the poison willingly because admitting his own corporate empire was crumbling under his reckless mismanagement was too painful for his bloated pride. When Claire denied the absurd accusations, Adrian called her a liar. When Vanessa produced meticulously forged emails supposedly traced back to Claire’s personal laptop, Adrian’s judgment evaporated entirely.
“You betrayed me,” Adrian had snarls before reaching for the antique riding belt mounted on the study wall [cite: "“You betrayed me,” Adrian said. \n\n“They’re forged.” \n\nVanessa laughed softly. “Of course you’d say that.” \n\nAdrian reached for the decorative riding belt his grandfather had displayed in the study."].
Now, standing tall despite her physical pain, Claire stared down the man she had loved for three years. For the duration of their marriage, Adrian had operated under the delusion that she was ordinary. He knew her father was comfortable, but Claire had intentionally masked her true lineage, using her late mother’s maiden name—Hart—to ensure Adrian loved her for who she was, not because the Ellison name opened doors to elite society [cite: "He knew my father was wealthy, but I had never told him exactly how wealthy. Dad had deliberately stayed away from our marriage because I wanted to know whether Adrian loved me without the Ellison name opening doors for him.\n\nSo I used my late mother’s surname.\nTo Adrian, I was simply Claire Hart."].
To him, she was just a quiet wife, a former financial analyst, and a convenient hostess.
Vanessa stepped forward, her voice dripping with venom. “Adrian, she’s threatening you.”
“No,” Claire replied, her voice steady and razor-sharp. “I’m warning him.”
Adrian sneered, confidence returning as he looked at her bruised hands. “About what?”
Claire walked deliberately to the mahogany side table, picked up her phone, and dialed a number she had sworn never to use.
Adrian mocked her, asking if she was calling the police.
“No,” Claire said quietly, pressing the call button.
Her father answered on the first ring.
“Claire?”
Her voice barely wavered.
“Dad.”
A heavy, electric silence stretched across the line before her father’s tone instantly hardened with lethal intent. “What happened?”
Claire looked straight into Adrian’s mocking eyes.
“Just like you told me,” she whispered. “Destroy his life.”
Adrian burst into arrogant laughter, joined quickly by Vanessa.
Her father asked only one qualifying question: “Are you safe?”
“Yes.”
“Good. Give me five minutes.”
The line went dead.
May you like
Adrian spread his arms theatrically. “Five minutes?” he said. “Should I be scared?”
Claire looked at the antique clock ticking behind him, smiled coldly, and delivered her final verdict.
