Chapter 4 - The Vanguard Assault

The trap sprang on a rainy Tuesday night two weeks later.
Victor Vance, believing Renata’s inside information was still active and reliable, launched a coordinated midnight infiltration of the Long Island estate. Four professional operatives bypassed the perimeter sensors—sensors that Adrian had deliberately left active while secretly routing them to a secondary monitoring feed—and slipped through the service entrance near the garden.
They expected a sleeping, vulnerable household.
Instead, they walked straight into an illuminated, fully manned tactical reception coordinated by Frank and twenty elite security operatives.
Adrian sat in his dark study overlooking the front courtyard, sipping black coffee as the brief, decisive skirmish unfolded below. Within five minutes, all four intruders were disarmed, restrained, and zip-tied against the marble floor of the grand foyer.
Victor Vance, monitoring the raid from a secure comms channel miles away, suddenly heard Adrian’s calm, steady voice broadcast directly over his encrypted frequency.

"Nice try, Victor," Adrian spoke into the receiver. "Next time you want my shipping manifests, don't send amateurs to do a soldier's job. I'm returning your men to the local authorities by morning. And as for your port concessions in Boston? They belong to me now."
The comms line clicked dead with a sharp, furious hiss.
